Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNO): Continuing the National Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, themed “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday steered a sequence of vigilance awareness programs, across the Union Territory, which is part of Bureau’s initiative for departmental and public outreach efforts to foster honesty, transparency, and good governance, with a focused engagement involving the Department of Rural Development, the Department of Mining, and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.
As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the programs were effectively held at several key locations with venues at Panchayat Bhawan Bahu Plaza Jammu, PWD Guest House Billawar,DC OfficeKishtwar, DC Office Reasi, DC Office Poonch, Common Facility Center Ramgarh, in Jammu Division and IMPA Srinagar, RDD Handwara, Dak Banglow Sopore, Environmental Hall Handwara, Town HallShopian, Circuit House Pulwama, DC Office Budgam, Mini Secretariat Kulgam and Conference Hall Dak Bungalow Anantnag, in Kashmir Division.A program was also organized by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of ACB at NIT, Hazratbal, Srinagar, on the subject topic.
Moreover, upon invitation from the Department of Law, ACB conducted a special program at the University of Kashmir, which was attended by Honorable Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir, Prof. Nilofer Khan and SSP (AIG-Admin)ACB-SBG, Sh. Javid Hassan Bhat.The program was very successful with participation of more than 450 participants.
A documentary showcasing ACB’s ongoing anti-corruption initiatives was screened at each venue. The film included insightful messages from the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi; Honorable Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha; and Shri Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS, Director ACB, J&K. Their messages reaffirmed the national commitment to promoting integrity and accountability within governmental institutions and underscored the importance of shared responsibility in eradicating corruption.
All programs were closely supervised from ACB Headquarters by the Director ACB and senior officers, including DIGs and AIGs. Each district event featured preset awareness sessions organized in collaboration with the Departments of Rural Development and Mining. The programs witnessed active participation from government officials, departmental functionaries, and members of the public. Senior ACB officers, including the respective district SSPs, delivered presentations highlighting the collective duty of officials and citizens in promoting ethical governance and transparent service delivery. The main events in Jammu and Srinagar were held at Panchayat Bhawan Bahu Plaza and IMPA Srinagar, respectively.
To encourage interaction and feedback, audience members were engaged through mobile app-based questionnaires designed to assess their perspectives on challenges and improvements in public service systems. Participants also received awareness materials such as posters, pamphlets, and digital resources emphasizing anti-corruption reporting mechanisms, including the Satark Nagrik App and ACB’s official helpline and WhatsApp channels.
Each program concluded with an Integrity Pledge Ceremony, administered by senior ACB officers, reaffirming the participants’ and departments’ commitment to uphold moral and ethical conduct in public service. Integrity Pledge, at University of Kashmir, was administered by Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan.
ACB officials extended appreciation to all government departments, particularly Department of Rural Development, Department of Mining, and to the general public for their enthusiastic participation.
